Cisco MDS Storage Networking Fundamentals

3 days - CMSNF

Profile

This training, targeted at pre-sales engineers, is focused on developing a good understanding around the architecture, features and value of Cisco MDS 9000 Family products. At the end of this course, they will understand the positioning of each product as well as competitive differentiation. They will also be able to recommend Cisco Storage Networking products in various designs.

Skills

After completing this course the student should be able to:
  • With the aid of reference materials the learner will articulate the MDS 9000 hardware architecture including the common features of the MDS 900 product family, the system components found across the MDS 9000 product family and the key differentiators of the MDS 9000 family.
  • With the aid of reference materials the learner will describe the system features and the functions of the MDS 9000 product family and explain the MDS 9000 Security Services and Traffic Management features and how they are implemented and also describe Cisco?s Commitment to Standards.
  • With the aid of reference materials the learner will describe how system management is implemented on the MDS 9000 product family and differentiate between the various tools (CLI, Management GUI and Fabric Configuration Server) and using those tools configure and monitor basic MDS 9000 functions.
  • With the aid of reference materials the learner will describe how to use the various Diagnostic and Analyzer tools available within the MDS 9000 product family and differentiate between the various tools on when and where best to use the tools to determine the operational condition of an MDS 9000 product.
  • Without the aid of reference materials the learner will describe the various SAN topology designs available and differentiate on when and where each design is best implemented by describing the various design elements that need to be considered.
